On damage regularity defect nucleation modelling

چکیده

The purpose of this article is to model defect nucleation. considered as a small volume which evolves damaged zone. damage described by transition zone can be sharp or continuous. In the first case, discontinuities occur and initiation based on bifurcation an equilibrium state. When continuous, continuous. The analysis considering different models damage, depending regularity imposed mechanical field. For each model, presence fields investigated. Consequences nucleation are illustrated particular structures: bars under extension spheres radial loading.

Direct observation of defect-mediated cluster nucleation.

Ion implantation is widely used to introduce electrically or optically active dopant atoms into semiconductor devices. At high concentrations, the dopants can cluster and ultimately form deactivating precipitates, but deliberate nanocrystal formation offers an approach to self-assembled device fabrication. However, there is very little understanding of the early stages of how these precipitates...

On Regularity of Acts

In this article we give a characterization of monoids for which torsion freeness, ((principal) weak, strong) flatness, equalizer flatness or Condition (E) of finitely generated and (mono) cyclic acts and Condition (P) of finitely generated and cyclic acts implies regularity. A characterization of monoids for which all (finitely generated, (mono) cyclic acts are regular will be given too. We als...

On elastoplastic damage modelling in unsaturated geomaterials

In the context of nuclear waste disposal, the modelling of the behaviour of host rocks and soils still needs improvement. Unsaturated porous geomaterials exhibit particular behaviour when exposed to suction. Their non-linear behaviour may result from two different processes, plasticity which induces irreversible strains and damage which causes a deterioration of their elastic properties. Many e...

Modelling Damage Growth and Failure in Elastic Materials with Random Defect Distributions

Failure in materials under cyclic loading occurs by the growth and propagation of cracks. If they are sufficiently numerous, the cracks can be considered to be continuously distributed in the material. In this paper, a mathematical model is proposed to predict failure in materials with defects in the form of randomly distributed pores. The model includes anisotropic damage accumulation, the eff...

Measuring surface dislocation nucleation in defect-scarce nanostructures.

Linear defects in crystalline materials, known as dislocations, are central to the understanding of plastic deformation and mechanical strength, as well as control of performance in a variety of electronic and photonic materials. Despite nearly a century of research on dislocation structure and interactions, measurements of the energetics and kinetics of dislocation nucleation have not been pos...
